Marta!  You are my first blogger.  Bloggist?  Bloggifier?
I would apologize for not being very diligent about this blogging business, but it seems to me that nobody else is either.  Except for you, Marta, who, as of now, is welcome to write as often and as much as you like as long as it's as complimentary as the last message! I could get used to that.
I'm told this is supposed to be about what readers want to discuss.  Now, seeing as there's nobody out here but me and my new best friend, Marta, I'm going to see if I can drive the discussion.
I'd like to hear what people think about hotel rooms.  Specifically, what features constitute the perfect hotel room?
We're not talking the Ritz or the Four Seasons - because realistically, how many of us can afford that - but just an ordinary room for the average Joe.
I'd like to see a recycling box in every hotel room, so I can get rid of empty water bottles, gum wrappers, maps I no longer need, newspapers and the 10 tonnes of press kits and brochures I know I"ll never use when I get home.
I really like those arced shower curtain rods that bow outward and prevent the wet, clammy, shower curtain from grabbing at my arms and legs.
I want a luggage rack in the closet, a window that opens, a good reading lamp, a bar fridge and a nightlight or a dimmer switch in the bathroom so I'm not blinded in the dead of night.
And I really hate those quilted flowered bedspreads.  Heaven only knows what's on them.
Any thoughts?
Mary

A Roaming what?

The boss came over the other day and said we had to do something about my roaming blog.
I said "Yikes!  I didn't know I had one.  Should I call my doctor or go straight to emerg?"
"No, no,'" he sighed.  "A blog.  You know?  A Web log? You write stuff, readers write stuff and you talk about travel online. And we're going to call it Roaming. "
"Whew!  As long as it isn't terminal. Why don't they just read my column?  Or call me?"
"Because, Mary, this is the 21st century," he sighed again, a little louder this time. "People use computers.  They blog.  You need to get with the program.
"First you open a window."
"Yeah, right," I scoffed.  "You know as well as I do that we don't have any damn windows in this airless tomb.  Why any architect in his right mind would design an office with no windows ..."
"A computer window!" he said between clenched teeth.
So he pushed a bunch of buttons, clicked here, scrolled there, wrote down the top secret password, and said "Write away."
"Right away?" I hollered after him. "Can't I have lunch first?"
He kept walking.
So here it is ... my Roaming blog.  Now it's your turn to do whatever blogger people do.
Me, I'm going to get a sandwich.
