On Monday night, the junior boys volleyball teams faced off for the city championship game.
The Brebeuf Braves , with an undefeated record, faced the Cardinal Newman Cardinals with a record of 10-4 ,at the SJB gym.
The game started off as fast paced as ever. Points started accumulating just seconds after the referee blew his whistle. Some simple mistakes were made by Newman, which in return made the first set an easy win for the Braves.
By the time the second set came , the home stands began to roar, as the Braves kept their lead .
Time continues to tick, and once again the Braves took another lead in the third set. Their effort demonstrated skill beyond their years, as well as showing that they have earned their undefeated record, and a spot in the championship game.
The set stays tight. Neither team brakes through the tied slump. Both teams, as well as the stands, begin getting anxious. Time wilts away, and both teams continue to give it their all. The Cardinals fight until the end, but unfortunately do not prevail.
Braves won the game in the first three sets.
Special mention to JohnZimmerman who performed many of the impressive blocks throughout the game. As well as to one of the team captians, Adrian Swist who made an outstanding contribution to the game. This is the Braves second championship in a row.
