Former Tory MP Rahim Jaffer is in the crosshairs of all parties, with the Conservatives charging he has sullied them all.
"Do you believe and understand that your actions have tarnished the reputation of politicians from all parties -- do you get that?" Conservative MP Tom Lukiwski asked Jaffer at the end of the grueling committee session yesterday.
'I'm quite surprised and shocked that I'm sort of being treated in this capacity," said Jaffer, who was the one-time Conservative caucus chair.
Jaffer reminded Lukiwski that he, Jaffer, had ridden to power in Ottawa with the rest of the Harper team on a vow to clean up politics.
But Jaffer was repeatedly blasted as he sought to defuse the controversy that erupted around him and Guergis after a Toronto Star article on Jaffer in early April painted a picture of alleged cocaine use, parties with hookers and ties to people engaged in questionable business practices.
What do you think? Does this growing scandal stain the Harper Conservatives, or is it an isolated incident?
I think most of the public see all politicians in the same light, not just one party. I don't trust any of them and I am not surprised by his conduct. If the allegations against Jaffer are true, I want to see him go to jail just like I would.

The system is broken and no longer represents the people.
I wonder when people will wake up and pay attention.

I don't think the actions of this politician is isolated and further investigation is justified.
There is so much underhand lobbying and I would bet criminal behavior and is par for the course in order to be successful, { long stay politician.} Some are better at covering up than are others.{ And suing the government/ shades of Mulroney et al}

"Do you believe and understand that your actions have tarnished the reputation of politicians from all parties"
that made me laff uncontrollably for 10 min.
Politicians should've thought about that one eons ago. Lets talk about the lying, stealing and scandal that happens constantly in the political world. Theres no such thing as an isolated incident in that business. lmao!! For every politician that gets caught, 10 get away with it.

"alleged cocaine use, parties with hookers and ties to people engaged in questionable business practices."
WOW, SO JAFFER ISN'T ANY DIFFERENT THAN MANY OTHER POLITICIANS IN POWER. HECK, DON'T EVEN HAVE TO BE IN ANY SORT OF POWER TO PARTAKE IN THOSE ACTIVITIES. JUST ANOTHER DAY IN POLITICS.

I WANT TO KNOW HOW MUCH COCAINE HE HAD. ANYMORE THAN A GRAM AND HE SHOULD BE IN JAIL LIKE THE REST OF US WOULD BE. ALSO, WHY DOESN'T THE PROSECUTOR ASK HIM TO SUBMIT TO A VOLUNTARY DRUG TEST TO AFFIRM HE'S NEVER TAKEN COCAINE? I'M ALMOST TOTALLY POSITIVE HE WOULD REFUSE. THROW THIS GUY IN JAIL AND STOP WASTING OUR MONEY ON THIS DUMB INQUIRY.
