when they put golf in the Olympics i hope to win the gold as long as i dont play with Tiger Woods. My point is that professionals shold never be allowed to play in the Olympics. Should be for amateurs ONLY

The next winter olympics are in Russia. What do you get when you combine Gary Bettman, NHL players, Alexander O., and a Russian population looking to avenge their last Olympic loss in Vancouver (I seem to recall one high ranking Russian official claiming that after the Vancouver Olympics his Russian Atheletes should all be shot!)?
You get an NHL commisioner who is afraid the next Winter Olympics will be even more disasterous than the near loss of 1972. Lets not get caught up in the amature/professional smoke screen. Bettman is about $$$$$ and there is a strong possibility that the majority of NHL players could look bad in Russia, hence the league will take a hit.

The Olympics have long lost their glory as an event other than for Marketing and self-centred athletic endorsements.
Professionals should never have been allowed to enter this venue but too many political and corporate Logo's depend upon their results.
As with so many sports venues, the actual word 'Competition' and 'Entertainment' is lost as well.

No professional should participate in the Olympics.Those games are reserved for amateurs.
