The provincial government, previously opposed to having professional level Mixed Martial Arts, now says it will allow the events. What do you think?

Believe it or not, some people watch live golf, syncro swimming, baseball, NASCAR, figure skating, cricket, etc., etc. Watching paint dry is more exciting than most of the foregoing. These are meant for people who don't want to raise their heart beat above dead. To each his own. If some like MMA so be it. Those who don't, don't go and don't watch it. Simple.

This is not a sport but legalized battery. Along with boxing, this "sport" should remain outside of the confines of Ontario borders. There are so many many other things that this government should be focussing on but as usual they get it wrong.

Okay, Peter. You and me. Outside the saloon. At sundown. We'll see who's the quicker draw, pardner.

This "sport" is nothing but organized brutality.
McGuinty again demonstrates what a coward he is by reversing himself - following intense lobbying - and by announcing it in such a way the press might not take notice.
Why not cock fights too? Or dog fights?

Too bad they couldn't reverse their decision on the HST as fast.

According to Consumer Services Minister Sophia Aggelonitis, regulating MMA is the best way to keep the fighters safe.
Hmm... not to mention the revenue the government will accrue from it and the online gambling it is about to get into as well.
Oh well, bloodsports and gambling may be two effective ways to divert people should they grow vexed over their increasingly high utility and gasoline bills thanks to the HST, despite the fact that the latter will be applied to these latest questionable and diversionary McGuinty policy decisions.

I agree Gene. I thought that MMA crap was only for rednecks south of the border but apparently it's become popular here too.
Let's allow gunfighting in Ontario too! Gunslinging was an art and profession that many would probably enjoy watching too!
Thank goodness 2012 is around the corner...

Well, not until 2011. And there could be an election before then. And the new premier of Ontario might be a genteel, civilized sort of person who doesn't see the point in two men pounding each other bloody while the audience cheers.
The almighty dollar...too bad the common folks who support these money-making machines don't realize they aren't benefitting in any way.
Wake up, sheeple.
